Looking to Tomorrow

April 26th, 2007 at 07:47 pm

It's not looking very promising for new help at the office. I hope tomorrow will bring someone wonderful. With this new help will also come a drop in income due to training and not having as busy a schedule. Things will be tight, at least for a month.

Good thing that I was able to save all of my pay this week and hopefully next week.

Yesterday, I divided up the 5lbs of chop meat into...meatballs, taco filling, hamburgers and Gyro meat. I put everything into the frezzer when it cooled. Now I will have dinner on hand for a few nights.
I also accomplihed a few things in the back yard. Mowing, poop patrol, fertilizing and weed control. It still looks like it needs a lot of fixing up but it is a little cold today so I will focus my cleanning on the indoor stuff.

Quiet Weekend

February 12th, 2007 at 06:02 pm

I had a pretty quiet weekend. I didn't do much of anything except clean. Went out to dinner both Saturday and Sunday. I used gift cards that I received for my birthday.

Today is a long day at work. I know that it will be a no spend day. I guess that will make 3 no spend days in a row. That is a first for me.

Everything is pretty status quo on the money side. I'm not due anything outside of my weekly pay. My bills are paid and up to date. My taxes will not get filed until April. If I get a return this year it will not be until May. What is everybody else doing with their returns? I'm not sure what I'll do with mine.

Just Rambling

February 9th, 2007 at 10:28 pm

Deposited 10.90 from half.com and 1.68 from a dividend check to the 20.00 challenge. Paid off the CC and some other bills and managed to save 400.00 to my cash fund.

Finally set up bill pay through my local bank. If this works the way I hope it will this is the way I will be paying my bills in the future.

Still haven't lost any more weight. I'm stuck at 154 for about 3 weeks now. I have been cooking dinner every night this week. Tonight will be chicken, mashed potatoe and veg. Popcorn for desert while watching my shows.

Tomorrow I will be heading upstate to my condo to give it a good cleanning. We will be having people use it in the next few weeks.

No Spender Today

February 2nd, 2007 at 09:50 pm

A no spend day today!Yipee!Worked all day.
Ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at home. My Mom gave me a 100.00 bill for my birthday and I put that into my cash fund. My Dad and brothers gave me gift certifictes to restaurants nearby. Hubby and DD gave me a new pair of jeans and my favorite perfume. My birthday was a few days ago, I forgot to write about it.

Haven't lost any weight this week. I think that is b/c I have been on a salty popcorn kick. Every night I have been sitting down to watch my shows with a big bowl of popcorn. Yummy! But if I want to lose any weight I think I will have to stop this.

Jan.19th 2007

January 20th, 2007 at 01:44 am

Today was a good non spending day. After the weeks worth of spending I'm glad that it is calming down. I think that alot of the spending lately has a lot to do with DD being home from college. She is very encouraging to let those bucko's fly right out of my wallet. she is a very helpful spender. When she is at school I don't spend nearly as much as when she is home. It is a little of this and a little of that and it adds up. Tomorrow we have to go and pick up her text books for the upcoming semester and that will be a small fortune. But it is an expected expense verses a non expected. That means I do have the money for it w/o having to go broke. While we are out that way picking up the books we will probably have a nice lunch out. I have a restaurant .com certificate so I will use that. Other than helping DD with getting her books it seems like it will be a prety laid back weekend.

Still haven't received payment on the stuff I sold on Ebay. It is taking quite a while. I'm new to this. I hope it works out. It is a good way in principle to add a couple of extra dollars to the savings. It is also good b/c I am decluttering the house at the same time.
Yesterday was payday and again it came and went with out saving a dime. Hopefully nexts week pay I will be able to save something of it.

No Spender!

January 12th, 2007 at 10:33 pm

Today was a no spend day. Again b/c I worked all day. There was also nothing to save today as well. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner at home. Tonights dinner, Salmon, Couscous and broccoli.

Tomorrow I'm planning to go upstate to my condo. I haven't been there since Oct.4th.2006. I'm going to be bringing my brother and his 7 year old son with me for the weekend. It should be fun. Although there is a chance of snow for both Saturday and Sunday. I hope I don't get stuck up there. It will probably be a money spending weekend. Since my brother doesn't have much money, I usually treat them to dinner out. I also pay for all of the supplies we will be needing gas and tolls.

Lost 2lbs. this week, 1 last week. New weight 155lbs.

No Spend Day!

January 9th, 2007 at 01:01 am

Sold two books on half.com today and two items on Ebay. When I receive payment on these items I will enter the amounts into the $20.00 challenge total.

Today was a no spend day due to long working hours.

DD did the food shopping and made dinner tonight . What a big helper she was today.

Work picked up a little today, so that was good. Otherwise it was just an average day. No spend day though b/c I had to work all day. Making steak for dinner and then watch a little TV and call it a day. No chance to walk or exercise today...bummer.

No Spender

Today was a no spend day. The weather was miserable here, alot of rain. So I didn't go out today. Ordered dinner in, used a gift card. Put up a few items for auction on E-bay. Organized my paper work. Back to work tomorrow. It was a quiet 3 days off.

TGIF

November 10th, 2006 at 11:37 pm

TGIF! Today was extremely busy at work. We had a lot of odd people to deal with. Above and beyond the normal garden variety. They sap so much of my energy.
I got home and really didn't feel like thinking about dinner...hubby was his usual kind and generous self and asked if I would prefer to go out. I told him no thanks, that I was too tired to go out. So, I put up a chicken to roast. I guess I will make a little stove top stuffing and a veggie and call it a day.

The good new is...today was a no spend day.

Moolah In

November 4th, 2006 at 10:51 pm

Yipee! Another no spend day. I received a coupon from Victoria's Secret for a free pair of underwear, value $7.50. Took the coupon to the store and got the underwear. Thats it nothing else.

I then went to my parents house and was treated to lunch. While I was there my brothers paid me the money they owed me(all of it).
When I got home I had some yard work to do.

I finally turned on the heat last night. It got really cold,in the 30's. I guess going for 2 months with out the use of heat or A/C is pretty good.

Tonight for dinner I am going to make Salmon with Cilantro and Lime and some veggies on the side. This is a new recipe I am trying. I will let you know how it turns out.

I think for entertainment I am going to check and see if the Red Box has any new releases. I'll see if hubby or DD will volunteer to pay.

A Productive Day

September 21st, 2006 at 11:36 pm

Today, was quite a busy day as was yesterday. Went to work in the AM. Mowed the grass. Took down the puppy's crate cleaned it and gave it back to my brother. Then cleanned the floors. I brought my older dog to PT. Made lunch for hubby and myself and then cooked two PotRoast dinners. One to have tomorrow night and the other one I froze to have at a later date.
Today was also payday, so off to the bank I went. There was only 5% left of my pay this week to put into savings. I had to pay school taxes on some property I have in PA. Next week it will be the same deal for the property I have in upstate New York. So for about two weeks I will have next to nothing to save. Kind of a bummer, but the way I see it ...it is a payment towards an investment.
Today also turned out to be a no spend day. A pretty good and productive daySmile

Why do I cut my own grass?

September 13th, 2006 at 09:47 pm

I know my neighbors and probably their kids think that I am cheap because I don't have one of the kazillion lawn care people taking care of my grass and yard.
It wasn't always the case. I used to have a lawn care company take care of the yard, in fact I went through three of them trying to find a company to do as I asked . Never happened. I got tired of throwing my money away and having my front lawn dug up by their heavy mowers. So, two years ago I bought an inexpensive lawn mower, weed wacker and a spreader and started to take care of the yard myself. I have to tell you that my grass has never looked better. On top of having a beautiful lawn, I also save a bundle,$50.00 per cutting. Not including fertilizing and seeding the grass, which is an additional savings. It really isn't difficult to do and it is not very time consuming either.

Today was another no spend day for me. Went to the library to check out Kiplinger's and Money magazine, had some good articles. I'm thinking of buying the two magazines, only if I can get a good price. Made lunch and dinner with stuff I already had in the house.

I was able to roll another $37.00 in coins today. That money will be deposited into my totally free checking account for me to tag at a later date.
